As we begin 2024, let’s have a look at some of the 2024 Vancouver flooring trends.
Hardwood Floors
Wire-brushed White Oak engineered hardwood floors still reign supreme, with no end in sight to their popularity. White Oak floors in a wide plank, long length, neutral colour and with some texture are still the hot commodity for 2024. Ethical Flooring carries top North American and European made hardwood floors from brands such as Mirage, Vintage Hardwood, Riva, Mohawk, Timberwise and Northern Wide Plank. We also carry more price-conscious floors from overseas for those on a budget.
Carpet
The areas of a home that carpet is installed in continues to shrink year by year. However, when carpet is installed in a home, most clients are looking for a high quality, high style carpet that will fulfill their desire for warmth, comfort and beauty. At Ethical Flooring our clients love natural wool carpets, and we see this part of our business continuing to grow in 2024. At Ethical Flooring our offer wool carpets from Godfrey Hirst, Karastan, Nature’s Carpet and Woolline. For those clients who want to balance price, beauty and stain resistance, SmartStrand carpet from Mohawk will still our most recommended option in 2024.
Vinyl Planking
It is no secret that vinyl flooring is still taking the industry by storm. Its combination of good looks, affordable price, durable wear-layer and resistance to moisture have made it a favourite among countless clients. As each year passes, the vinyl floors improve in realism and their resistance to temperature swings. The next “big-thing” for the vinyl planking category is PVC free and recycled products; one day vinyl planking will not actually contain any vinyl! We currently carry PVC free products from Inhause and Mohawk PureTech. Expect to see this category of more environmentally friendly waterproof floors grow into 2024 and beyond.
Laminate Flooring
If you have an upcoming flooring project and desire a beautiful, durable, water-resistant and cost effective floor, it may be time to revisit laminate flooring. Laminate has received a bad reputation in years past because a number of the floors sold were of poor quality and were poorly installed. However a high-quality laminate floor that is installed to industry specifications is one of the most high-performing floors you can purchase; all at a great price! As well, the newest generation of laminate floors are water resistant, removing what was once a weakness of this type of floor. Within the last few months a new generation of laminate from Karastan and Mohawk has been released, with texture and visual quality so realistic it is hard to tell if it is real hardwood or not. Our expectation for 2024 is that more of these extremely realistic laminate floors will continue to be released, revitilizing a category of flooring that deserves more attention then it currently receives.
